What is a Nostr Address?

A Nostr Address (aka NIP-05 identifier) is a method to verify your identity on Nostr through DNS, providing a human-readable identifier like rob@nostrly.com.

It’s a reliable way to identify the Nostr public key you use, helping people avoid scammers and impersonators on Nostr.

For example, on Primal, you will see a checkmark if the Nostr Address confirms the npub is valid.

You can share your Nostr Address with others, and they can look you up using it like so:

What can I do with my Nostr Address

When you register a Nostr Address via Nostrly, you get to choose a stylish, easy to remember identifier that people can use to find you on Nostr, and verify they are following the right person.

You can also redirect lightning payments made to your Nostr Address to the Lightning address in your Nostr Profile.

If you don’t have a Lightning Address set up in your Nostr profile, or you set your Nostr Address as your Lightning Address, Nostrly will redirect your zaps to the Cashu fallback wallet at npub.cash wallet.

What is Lightning Redirection?

Lightning redirection lets you use your Nostr Address as a lightning address. Any sats sent will be automatically redirected to your Nostr profile Lightning address. You can try it for yourself with this : rob@nostrly.com

What if I don’t have a Lightning Address?

No problem – you can set your Nostr Address as your Nostr Lightning wallet address!

When you do this, any zaps you receive will be automatically redirected to the Cashu fallback wallet.

What is the Cashu (ecash + Nostr) Fallback Wallet?

The Cashu fallback wallet is a special custodial ecash + Nostr powered Lightning wallet that you can access any time using your Nostr keys! You can access this wallet at npub.cash.

This fallback wallet ensures you will ALWAYS be able to receive sats zapped to your @nostrly.com Nostr Address.

You can withdraw sats as ecash tokens to any Cashu wallet (eg: Cashu.me) or redeem them to a lightning address.

An advantage of using the fallback wallet is that ecash transactions, like physical cash, are private and secure.

Can I reassign my Nostr Address to a new npub?

Yes! Simply login to your Nostrly account (using your npub, or password if you set one) and choose to disconnect the account from Nostr. You can then re-sync the account using the new npub (signed via your browser extension).

If you are selling/giving the Nostr Address to someone else, you can set a password on the account and send that to them. They can then login via username/password and re-sync the account using their npub.

Can I have two Nostr Addresses for my npub?

No. For security, Nostrly Addresses are unique to each npub.

If you want to change your Nostrly Address to a different username, you must disconnect your npub from the old one and then register the new one.

I updated my Nostr profile, but Lightning redirects didn’t update

Nosrtly updates your profile when you login. So simply login to Nostrly and your account will update to your latest Nostr profile automatically. You can also do a manual sync inside your Nostrly account any time.

Do you offer Nostr Addresses on other domains?

No. we are focusing on nostrly.com only, as it’s a short, stylish and easy to remember domain.

How much is a @nostrly.com Nostr Address?

The regular price is 5,000 sats. 2 and 3 character names are more. Just type the name you want to see the price.

Will you be adding more services?
